Leicester Wildecats hosted their 19th annual tournament this weekend at St Margarets Pastures, Leciseter. The club would like to thank both national Grid for their sponsorship and Sainsbury’s for their supply of water and fresh fruit which was invaluable in the blistering heat.
Both of these sponsors have helped the Wildecats to sustain an effective event over the past few years and without their continued support, it would be very hard to maintain the high levels of organisation seen. It was great to see national Grid in the tournament programme with their clear statement of support towards diversity and inclusivity to sport and above all diversity towards the LGBT community. The fact they represented a team also showed solid support to our cause. We also displayed the Sainsbury’s rainbow banner proudly on pitch side which showcased their support to inclusivity for all. Once again on behalf of the Wildecats a huge thank you for you continued support to our cause.
We welcomed 18 teams from across the UK. The final was contested between East End Phoenix and National Grid, with Phoenix narrowly missing out in a penalty shootout. The vase was won by the Yorkshire Terriers who were last year’s winners of the event.
Thank you again for all those that volunteered and travelled, which made the event another huge success.
